Our training clinic emphasizes working with disadvantaged and culturally diverse individuals and families from our community. In some cases, the political belief in this common dimension might appear as the conviction that we can take some patients’ political idealizations seriously and help them flesh out their ideas, exposing an isolated construct to the imposing constraints of following through and working together with others. Following the initial intake appointment, your clinician will suggest a therapy approach that is matched to your treatment goals and based on the best available research on therapy effectiveness. Examples of such times are for cognitive assessments, therapy for individuals who may not have access to privacy and/or secure internet connection at home, and therapy for people who are could gain better benefits from meeting in person. Within the context of providing training in helping skills to advanced graduate students in psychology, the mission of the Psychology Clinic is to help individuals and families improve the quality of their lives by assisting them in dealing with personal and interpersonal problems. The primary goal of the Clinic is to provide an introduction to clinical training for clinical psychology graduate students.
